Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,
It’s been a wild and wooly holiday season for us, and we hope it’s been filled with laughter and memorable moments with family and friends. With the new year approaching, it’s time to reflect on the past, make plans for the future, and have some fun in between, whatever that might mean to you. Thank you again for your continued Wine Club membership.
Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Dry Colorado Wine Club are:
Mountain Spirit Winery Duet The non-vintage Duet is a wonderful blend of Viognier and Chardonnay, roughly 70% & 30% respectively. As you may know, we’re quite fond of Colorado Viognier, and this is no exception. Exuberant, fruity aromas, backed by a solid core of clean fruit flavors reminiscent of mangos, pineapples, and just a hint of Chardonnay varietal character. The wine finishes beautifully and begs you to continue enjoying it.
Sutcliffe Vineyards 2005 Merlot This wine is young, tight and serious, with bright pie cherry notes along with significant tannic structure from both the fruit and the barrels. Don’t drink it yet if you like smoother wines. It’s going to be more appealing in about three years. It’s got fantastic acid and tannin balance for longer-term aging, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it held up for 10 or 15 years, getting more and more interesting the whole time. The best thing to do with a wine like this is to buy a case and start trying a bottle each year, starting around 2010. This is all assuming you like a smoother, more refined style of wine. If you like them rough and ready, by all means crack it open!
As always, enjoy the wines in good health!
Sincerely,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
