Dear Colorado Wine Club Member, Big changes are afoot: Talon Winery, dba the Colorado Wine Room, has just purchased a winery in Palisade! We’ve been looking for a way to expand production, and it actually found us! You’ll hear more about it as we move forward. Other than that, it’s business as usual. Winter is upon us in an atypically cold way. The vines should be holding up just fine, as long as they don’t warm up too much or too early in spring. It’s a great exhale, go on a vacation, or just kick back and enjoy the fruits of the vine. Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles. This month’s wines for the Sweet Colorado Wine Club are: 2007 Wild Cañon Harvest, The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey Wild Cañon is an eclectic blend of all sorts of grapes, harvested by all sorts of people in the Cañon City area. Winemaker Matt Cookson does a great job of bringing the community together to make a community wine. Each contributing grower is listed on the back label, so over the years we’ve watched the print getting smaller and smaller so that everyone could be included. The wine is quite nice. Pink, sweet and well balanced. Colorado Cherry Wine, J.A. Balistreri Vineyards The Balistreri Cherry is unique and interesting. It has a strong cherry flavor that’s complemented by a good dose of residual sugar. It has no sulfites added, so those who are sensitive to this ubiquitous ingredient might enjoy this special wine. We found it difficult to stop tasting it: “Hmm, let me try that again!” As always, enjoy the wines in good health! Sincerely,
Glenn & Natalie Foster |
