Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

Those members who were able to make the Wine Lover’s Dessert Night on Feb. 10th enjoyed a real treat, or rather several real treats.  We paired five desserts with five wines for 26 attendees and had a lovely time, thanks to Chef Diana Tarasiewicz.  We’ll continue to offer special food and wine events throughout the year, so keep your ears perked up.

On another note, we’re starting to enter the danger zone in the vineyard.  What we’re hoping for is not too much early warmth which would cause the grapevines to come out of dormancy too soon, making them susceptible to late spring frostbite.  If you pray, pray for a smooth and easy warming trend from now ‘till June.

Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles.  This month’s wines for the Sweet Colorado Wine Club are:

Confre Cellars-Pomegranate Wine

We served this delicious wine at the event mentioned above, and sold several bottles that same night.  It’s very flavorful and robust, echoing its namesake accurately, with plenty of residual sugar and acid to balance it.  We served it with a lemon strawberry trifle with lemon custard, berries and lemon pound cake.  It was a great match.

St. Kathryn Cellars-Golden Pear

This wine was also served at the Dessert Night, only this time its partner in-dulgence was a pear ginger torte.  It was a delicious and pretty “pearing”.  The wine is quite sweet with a finely tuned acid balance, and not too long in the finish.  Enjoy with a wide variety of sweet desserts and confections.  Peanut brittle, apple pie, and almond brioche come to mind.  It’s also lovely with mild cheeses, such as Havarti or Brie.

As always, enjoy the wines in good health!

Sincerely,

Glenn & Natalie Foster
