Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

Lose weight.  We may not be able to help you with all of your New Years resolutions, but three out of four ain’t bad!   Please join us Saturday, February 10th from 7 to 9 pm for our Wine Lover’s Dessert Night.  Chef Diana Tarasiewicz of DMT Worldwide Culinary Adventures will be serving five deliciously decadent desserts paired with fine Colorado wines.  Glenn and Diana will discuss why each wine was chosen for a particular dessert and answer any questions you may have.  Make it a Date Night, a Girl’s Night Out or a great excuse to meet new people!  The cost is $30 per person, and Wine Club members may sign up for $25.  Pre-registration with payment is required.    Sign up early—this one will fill up fast!

Canyon Wind Cellars 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon

This outstanding wine well represents what can be done in Colorado.  With its deep, rich color and matching flavors, it can be enjoyed now or within 10 years.  Wine Enthusiast rated this wine 86, and that’s no small matter.  Look for great balance, deep dark plums and chocolate in the nose, followed by dark cherry, clove and coffee in the mouth.  It is a substantial wine, yet smooth and easy to drink.

Grande River Vineyards 2002 Merlot

Ever since the Movie “Sideways” came out, Merlot has taken a big hit, and unjustly so.  This grape variety is still the leading red varietal wine purchased by Americans, and for good reason.  It pairs well with beef, pork, veal, lamb or chicken.  The Grande River ’02 Merlot may have been overlooked because of its reasonable price, but its soft, ripe flavors will give your taste buds something to talk about throughout the meal.  With raspberries and blackberries in the nose, rounded berry and cedar flavors in the mouth, and a beautiful finish, this is a great buy.
