Dear Colorado Wine Club Member,

Has it been a month already?!  Actually, it seems much longer than that, but because we’re all revved up about our new acquisitions of Confre Cellars, St. Kathryn Cellars, and Meadery of the Rockies, we’re behind schedule and because of that, it temporarily makes it feel like time is going more quickly.  Did I ever mention I was a philosophy student?  Now you know why I gave it up!

Enclosed are your Wine Club bottles.  This month’s wines for the Vintner’s Choice Colorado Wine Club are:

2004 Meritage White, Grande River Vineyards

This is a high quality White Bordeaux blend of unusual poise.  Look for a clean, fresh nose, light color with a hint of green, fine flavor and texture in the mouth.  You may detect a hint of the oak it was aged in for a good length of time.  Look also for a crisp finish that doesn’t linger too long.  Nice work, GRV!  Try this wine with fish, chicken and pork with milder flavors – nothing so heavy that the wine drowns.

2005 Claret, S. Rhodes

A fine garnet color and a bright, rosy bouquet gives this wine a good start.  The first sip indicates the first impression was not misleading.  The wine has a light, smooth mouthfeel, making it ideal for a standalone red sipping wine, or an introduction to reds for a sweet or white wine person.  It can be paired with milder meats, possibly prime rib or pork loin without too much spice or herbal rubs.  Make no mistake:  though this is a fairly subtle red, it is a finely crafted wine.

As always, enjoy the wines in good health!

Sincerely,

Glenn & Natalie Foster
